I am very sorry to announce that Scorpio Triumph by Alan Burt Akers, volume 43 of the Dray Prescot series, is delayed again. Subsequent titles may also be delayed, although I will do everything in my power to publish them all as near to their previously announced dates as possible, and have them all published by Christmas, as originally intended. Realistically, it is unlikely that Scorpio Triumph will be available much before the end of June. As soon as I receive the manuscripts, I will issue a revised publication schedule.
The Mary Jane Mission by Daniel Wyatt is now available from Fictionwise and all other good ebookstores. It is a fast-paced, time-travel mystery thriller or technothriller which is best enjoyed in a single sitting. The Mary Jane Mission was originally published in 1992 by Random House in Canada.
Here is the blurb:
When the B29 Superfortress Mary Jane is discovered in 1945 sitting in thick jungle with no visible damage, and her crew and mysterious payload are missing, the incident is hushed up and forgotten. But in 1990, mysterious radar images start to appear. F18 crews sent up to investigate discover a B29 flying towards Japan. What is this mysterious plane? If it is the Mary Jane continuing her mission, how can they stop it?
And some reviews:
“Plenty of action … a great choice for any fan of military thrillers…” Deb Hern, The Romance Reader’s Connection.
“a fascinating story of the discovery of a plane that cannot exist, and the efforts of a number of people to solve the mystery. All lovers of stories of the Pacific and Bermuda triangles will love this book.” Robert H. Goss, www.roundtablereviews.com.
I am pleased to announce that we have signed three books from Daniel Wyatt, author of “The Falcon File” series.
The first is The Mary Jane Mission, which was originally published by Random House, and we are hoping to publish this next Monday (fingers crossed). The Last Flight of the Arrow will be published on August 4 December 15, and The Cotton Run will appear on November 10 in January 2009.
I will post more information as soon as I have it.
The second book in the “Song of the Arkafina” series by Suzanne Francis is now available from Fictionwise.com and all other good ebookstores. Ketha’s Daughter follows on a few years from where Heart of Hythea left off, and is, in my opinion, an excellent read — maybe even better than Heart of Hythea. Book three is due in
Here is the blurb:
Queen Katrione Arkafina ably rules the kingdom of Beaumarais, but she has had less success with her boisterous daughter, Gwenn, born under the sway of a brutal Goddess. Keth Dirane has given Gwenn awesome strength and almost complete invulnerability, but manipulates her cruelly in return. Now, to further her own ends, she convinces Gwenn she must seek revenge for an old betrayal.
On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Gwenn runs away. After she allies herself with some marauding coastal raiders, captained by Gunnar Strong Arm, she has the army she requires. Now, as the dreaded warrior Faircrow, Gwenn will steer the Fynära inexorably towards her former home — the City of Isle St. Valery.
Further information can be found at the Ketha’s Daughter page.
Well, we’ve all been waiting a very long time, but I am now able to announce the much anticipated, first time published in English, Scorpio Drums by Kenneth Bulmer, writing as Alan Burt Akers. Originally translated into and published only in German in 1992 — 16 years is a long wait!
Scorpio Drums is the forty-second volume in the saga of Dray Prescot and the penultimate book of the Lohvian Cycle. It is available now from all good online ebookstores, such as Fictionwise. Go and get your copy now before we run out (only joking, we won’t run out).
Here is the blurb:
Dray Prescot has recently given up the job of being Emperor of Vallia, only to be pitchforked into the task of uniting all the varied continents and islands of Paz to resist the reiving onslaughts of the Shanks. People are beginning to call him the Emperor of Emperors, the Emperor of Paz. During the battle, to his horror, he sees Delia being carried off by a group of the whiptailed Kataki slavers, galloping off astride zorcas. Frenziedly he charges after them… Although previously published in a German translation, Scorpio Drums has never before been published in English.
Due to circumstances beyond my control (I love that phrase — it says everything without saying anything) we have had to adjust the publication dates a little for the remaining Dray Prescot books. I am sorry for any disappointment this will cause. Scorpio Drums will still be published on 7 April, but the rest have had to be moved back about a month. Titles by other Mushroom eBooks authors are not affected.

- Intrigue of Antares (DP44) – 2 June 2008
- Gangs of Antares (DP45) – 16 June 2008

Suzanne Francis, author of “The Song of the Arkafina” series, has written a very helpful article called “Yesterday Once More—How to Research Historical Fiction”. The title says it all, so I won’t try to summarize it. You can find the article, along with a few other useful essays, at The Long and the Short of It.
For those of you eagerly awaiting the second volume of the “Song of the Arkafina” series by Suzanne Francis, Ketha’s Daughter, I can confirm that the publication date will be 21st April 2008. Book three will be published in August, and the final volume in December, all being well.
